In microgravity, the human body is no longer working against gravity. What seems effortless for astronauts – floating – is actually a powerful deconditioning stimulus. Without continuous mechanical load, muscles, bones and the cardiovascular system start to “switch off”, compromising mission performance and recovery once back on Earth.
